Maintenance Mechanic

AERON Advanced Manufacturing, LLC, a plastics assembly and fragrance injection company located in Mason City, IA, is looking for a motivated and skilled individual to fill a Mechanic position.

Position Information:

Oversee mold and material changing process and ensure that all aspects of the production meet the required standards. This includes plastic injection units, mold set up/changes and adjusting processes as needed to ensure that the molded parts meet the necessary requirements. Train machine operators to ensure that they are following proper procedures and adhering to all safety, quality, and work rules and regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills within a manufacturing environment and meet the following qualifications:

  • 2- 3 years’ experience in plastic injection molding. Previous experience in tool/die making, designing and CNC programming is a plus.
  • Working knowledge and experience with injection molding ancillary equipment
  • A working knowledge of a wide range of thermoplastic materials and their properties is a plus
  • Excellent critical thinking skills

Responsibilities:

  • Inspects, identify and help troubleshoot production equipment to determine necessary repairs
  • Troubleshoot molding processes and material or equipment issues, performs preventive maintenance on molds and injection units, includes replacing thermocouples, heater bands, the screw assembly, barrel changes, hot runner controls and all forms of equipment used in the injection and production process.
  • Assist in establishing a robust PM system for maintenance and tools with accurate and timely documentation.
  • Perform inspections to ensure parts are conforming.
  • Help coordinate activities related to production, mold repairs and rebuilds using both internal and external resources.
  • Work with Operations Manager & Injection Specialist to implement strategies to improve overall efficiency of the department.
  • Run operations as necessary to fill in for absenteeism for Injection Specialist
  • Additional items as needed to ensure smooth operation of the plant.

Technical and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to drive a forklift.
  • Ability to calculate figures and dimensions.
  • Able to lift, bend, reach and climb.
  • Ability to lift fifty pounds.
